Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵvoters accounted for more than the 973-vote difference between winner Liberal Blair Wilson and Conservative runner-up John Weston in the Jan. 23 federal election.

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵvoters accounted for more than the 973-vote difference between winner Liberal Blair Wilson and Conservative runner-up John Weston in the Jan. 23 federal election.

In poll-by-poll results recently released by Elections Canada, Wilson polled 2,271 votes in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵcompared to Weston's 1,371 -a margin of 1,100 votes. Judith Wilson of the New Democrats came out a distant second over Weston with 1,520 votes, while Silvaine Zimmermann of the Green Party was fourth with 411. Marxist-Leninist candidate Anne Jamieson finished with 10 votes.

Overall, Wilson finished with 23,867 votes to second-place Weston's 22,891. Judith Wilson followed with 12,766, Zimmermann finished with 3,966 and Jamieson 145.

Weston has declared his intention to run again for the Tories in the next election.

Judith Wilson, in fact, actually won the Powell River area by a significant margin and edged out Blair Wilson on the Sunshine Coast.

If you were to exclude the West Vancouver portion of the riding, in fact, the New Democrat would have been the winner with 9,304 votes, compared to 8,254 for Blair Wilson and 8,037 for Weston.

Powell River -Judith Wilson 2,719, Weston 1,846, Blair Wilson 1,536, Zimmermann 366, Jamieson 21.

Sunshine Coast -Judith Wilson 4,557, Weston 4,137, Blair Wilson 2,501, Zimmermann 846, Jamieson 46.

West Vancouver (includes Bowen Island) -Blair Wilson 15,613, Weston 14,854, Judith Wilson 3,462, Zimmermann 1,792, Jamieson 61.

Whistler -Blair Wilson 1,896, Judith Wilson 508, Weston 683, Zimmermann 551, Jamieson 7.
