Thanks everyone

I'd like to thank Bob Kusch and all the municipal staff who helped make Soccerfest weekend a success. In difficult economic times I don't think Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵcan turn down opportunities for attracting guests.

I'd like to thank Bob Kusch and all the municipal staff who helped make Soccerfest weekend a success.

In difficult economic times I don't think Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵcan turn down opportunities for attracting guests. The impact of this tournament and others is felt by many.

Business owners, servers and suppliers all win when Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵhosts these events. A server with a full wallet goes out for dinner, buys clothes, continues to pay rent and may even save enough to buy a home and stay in the community.

In my opinion Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵshould be doing everything it can to maintain the events we have as well as promote new opportunities. Hockey, soccer, golf and softball tournaments bring new people to Squamish.

These people spend money on lodging, meals, incidentals and some choose to move here as a direct result of their positive experiences in our beautiful growing town. I'd like to see the district beef up their insurance policies as well as reduce user fees so it is not so cost prohibitive for groups to host events on our fields.

Communities like Whistler, Langley, Delta, Calgary and Surrey have all embraced these valuable economic opportunities and Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵneeds to continue to be a reasonably priced host.

A single Slo-pitch Canadian Nationals Tournament with 70 co-ed, women's and men's teams can contribute $300,000 plus to the local economy in one weekend.

Regardless of any municipal incurred costs, Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵthe outdoor recreational capital needs to be open for business.
