According to Canadian aquatic biologists, a farm salmon has to eat two to five pounds of wild-caught fish in order to gain one pound (Vancouver Sun, May 11, 2001).
In 2000, farmed salmon production was 49,000 tons . In 2007, farmed salmon production was 78,000 tons.
