No go casino

Story:It's absurd to think that a casino is good for anyone, let alone the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵNation. From experience, a casino will raise the amount of welfare checks signed out, create more poverty in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵthen there already is, create bankruptcy, broken families and broken people. I have worked in a casino and I can safely say that 80 per cent of the gamers were addicted and unhappy. They all had gambling problems, no worse then drugs and alcohol. It's crazy to say a casino will raise the amount of jobs, considering how much loss and misfortune a casino will establish. What is more important to you, the well-being of your people and your community or that one last pull that just might make you rich, but never does? Our community is different than most - the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵNation is a healthy, happy and thriving community. Instead of a casino, which will create more indignity and poverty, why not a First Nations school? It's the possibilities here, not the idea that matters. The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵNation can find the support they need to move forward with any endeavour here in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵand Vancouver. Think about your future and your children's future. Working in a casino is not a pleasurable experience when you're watching and contributing to a form of abuse and addiction. If we can build as a community, jobs will not be an issue. We don't need big box stores and casinos to make us happy, we need support from our friends and our neighbours and we will survive. Think twice about this decision and you could be saving the lives of many, many people, including your own.Katie Gable
