THE PAS, Man. — Police in northern Manitoba say a Saskatchewan man was sent to hospital after he was stabbed multiple times at the side of the road.

RCMP say the 49-year-old man was driving near The Pas, Man., on Dec. 22 when another vehicle came up behind him and struck him several times.

Mounties say the impact caused the man’s vehicle to veer off the road and into a ditch.

They say as he tried to climb out of the ditch, he was confronted by at least two people who assaulted and stabbed in multiple times.

The man was sent to hospital in serious condition, but has since been released.

RCMP say no description of the vehicle or assailants is available, adding they don’t believe it was a random attack.
