According to a news release from the games, there are about 900 athletes, 300 coaches and 140 officials from 122 communities in B.C. There are 15 separate sports to be represented.

While these games were supposed to happen last February, several factors postponed the event until 2023, which included the COVID-19 pandemic as well as flooding and wildfires in the province.

As such, the official name of the event remains the Great Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games much like the postponed Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. This will be the fourth time Vernon has hosted the games and first since 2012.

The competition starts on Friday, March 24 and goes until noon on Sunday, March 26. Please on to see when different competitions are set to occur.
