A 13-year-old boy is facing a weapons possession charge after allegedly pulling a knife on other youths during an altercation Friday (Jan. 5). A group of six 13 to 15 year olds were roaming around the Sixth Ave. Castlerock complex at 1 a.m. Friday when a fight broke out apparently over a girl.
"They were out without parental supervision causing trouble," said RCMP Cpl. Dave Ritchie.
Nearby residents heard the ruckus and called 911. An RCMP investigation led to the arrest of the 13-year-old boy who had allegedly brandished a knife. The boy had put down the weapon of his own accord before RCMP arrived.
The boy was released on a promise to appear to court later this month.
Youth charged with auto theft
A 16-year-old boy is charged with possession of stolen property after allegedly stealing a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from a residence at the 2300 block of Mamquam Road Thursday, Jan. 4.
The 樱桃视频youth was apprehended without incident while driving the vehicle at approximately 4:30 a.m. after the vehicle's owner reported the truck missing.
Two occupants were arrested, the boy and an 18-year-old girl. The girl was released without charges.
There was no damage to the vehicle and a key was discovered in the ignition. The boy was released on a promise to appear before a court later this month.
Fire Rescue investigating house fire
Fire investigators are not ruling out suspicious activity in a fire on a covered porch of a residence in the Spiral trailer park on Government Road. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. No one was injured in the incident and damage was limited to the structure's exterior.
Traffic backs up after semi flips
Traffic backed up significantly when a tractor-trailer truck lost control on slippery conditions and flips on Highway 99 Friday (Jan. 5). Fire Rescue and RCMP responded to the flipped tractor-trailer on at Culliton Bridge - also known as the Big Orange Bridge - at 6:20 a.m.
Both north and southbound lanes were severed for at least an hour and alternating vehicle traffic was allowed sporadically for another two to three hours while crews attempted to remove the vehicle, which had been travelling northbound with a load of groceries.
No one was injured in the accident.
