Police say a woman suffering apparent self-inflicted injuries was safely apprehended in a home on Tantalus Road.
According to a news release, the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP received a report around noon on Tuesday, April 30, of an “apparently distraught woman suffering from serious injuries” at a residence on Tantalus Road.
Police responded to the incident in addition to the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).
“Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP were further supported by the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), RCMP Air Services, BC Emergency Health Services, Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵFire Rescue, and the District of Squamish,” reads a news release sent to The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ from Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, a senior media relations officer with the RCMP.
“IERT eventually deployed into the home and apprehended the woman safely. She was treated on scene for apparent self-inflicted injuries and taken to a local area hospital for any [additional] treatment she might require. The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP thanks the neighbours and public for their cooperation in avoiding the area while police worked to safely resolve the situation.”
The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ was on-scene for a portion of the incident, where multiple RCMP vehicles and an ambulance were seen, plus at least 10 officers and a couple of paramedics.
Around 3:30 p.m., law enforcement officers and an ambulance were viewed leaving the area.
The District of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵasked local residents to shelter in place for a time. The RCMP noted in an earlier news release, sent around 1:30 p.m., that the police did not suspect the public was at risk during the incident.
