The RCMP in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵis working with the Abbotsford City Police after it was learned a potentially dangerous man was recently released from custody.

Sgt. Colin Worth of the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP said his office and the Abbotsford police want to make sure both our communities are safe from Linzel [Arthur] Carmack, 49. Abbotsford police describe Carmack as a violent sex offender who travels back and forth between Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵand Abbotsford.

The police are trying to get a court order prohibiting Carmack from having contact with people under 18 or from possessing weapons.

Carmack is a large man described as 146 kilograms (322 pounds) and only 1.17 metres (five feet, 10 inches) tall.

Pedophile suspect remains in custody

A 44-year-old man arrested March 24 accused of possessing child pornography made a court appearance March 31 and court the RCMP confirmed he will remain in jail until his next court hearing set for later this month.

The matter is scheduled to be back before a judge on April 14.

The suspect was arrested after a Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵman came to police to report his daughter may have had an inappropriate contact with the unidentified newcomer to Squamish. The suspect's name can't be published because of a court order.

Water advisory remains

Residents of Valleycliffe, Hospital Hill, Downtown, Dentville, Industrial Park and the Garibaldi Estates remain on a boil water advisory.

The DOS recommends all water be boiled for two minutes before drinking it.
