Little Emilio Razzano is a growing two-year-old who knows the inside of B.C. Children's Hospital very well Now his parents want to give something back to the facility that has helped sustain the toddler.
Pam Razzano, Emilio's mom, is organizing a night at B.C. Children's Hospital. She is taking a team of 樱桃视频people with her to the hospital on Monday (Aug. 22) to offer haircuts and nail care for kids and parents at the hospital.
She wanted to do the event because she said she doesn't have money to donate to the hospital.
"I know what it is like," Razzano said, "to be at the hospital for three days and realize, 'I haven't had a shower and wouldn't it be nice to have a haircut.'"
Volunteers from Cut 'n Loose and Girlz Garage are going to the hospital at 11 a.m. and through until 8 p.m. the team will groom kids and parents. Razzano expects about 20 people will be pampered.
Those who signed up for the personal care will get manicures, pedicures and haircuts.
"They are just excited to have their hair cut," said Razzano. "Some of the parents won't be able to leave their child's bedside. They will go to rooms for those parents that can't leave their child."
To prepare for the event, Razzano went to local businesses asking for donations. She said some businesses gave her product and others donated cash. The cash was used to purchase a TV for the schoolroom, a DVD player, a video game console and a few other things for the ward Emilio spends so much time in.
Emilio was born with a hypoplastic left heart and since his birth he was diagnosed with a number of other medical conditions. On two separate occasions Emilio went through open-heart surgery and he will need more surgery in the future.Emilio is doing well but a recent trip to Children's Hospital revealed a complication. Tests were run on the toddler and doctors are currently trying to decide how to deal with a new heart problem revealed on June 27.
According to Razzano, Emilio will be spending more time at Children's Hospital in the future."We are hoping that we are going to do another event come December," she said. "We would like to do it twice a year because they only do haircuts at the hospital once a year."
She said money will be saved and raised for future pampering nights.
