Relay For Life puts out call for entertainers

Community

Contributed to The ChiefThe Canadian Cancer Society is looking for entertainers for the first Relay For Life event coming to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵJune 24/25. If you can make people laugh, smile, dance, or sing along, we want to hear from you. We are looking for an assortment of disc jockeys, bands, clowns, magicians, school bands, theatre groups, dance groups and children's entertainers who are willing to donate a few hours of their time. You will be an integral part of making this a fun, family occasion. Interested parties should contact Mike at 604-892-2033 or email to schedule an appearance time. The Cancer Society Relay For Life is a unique community event full of fun, friendship and fundraising to help beat cancer. It involves teams of eight to 12 people who participate in a 12-hour, non-competitive overnight relay. A tent village allows teams to relax, socialize and enjoy the entertainment first-hand as they take a break from rounding the track. Each event across Canada begins with a Survivors' Lap in celebration of those who have triumphed in their fight against cancer. After dusk, a moving Luminary Ceremony takes place in memory and in honour of loved ones fighting the disease and those that we have lost. The Relay for Life will be taking place at Brennan Park Recreation Centre from 7 p.m. June 24 to 7 a.m. June 25. For more information on the Relay For Life or to register to participate or volunteer, email [email protected] or call Tamsyn at 604-898-1012.
