Principals transferring

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ

Principals Ian Kent, Paul Lorette and Patricia MacKenzie are on the move.

School District 48 Board of Trustees Chairman Doug Hackett announced this week that Kent is leaving Brackendale Elementary School to take over the job vacated by the retirement of Jeff Larcombe at Mamquam Elementary School. Kent asked for the transfer and it was granted.

Lorette also asked for and received a transfer from Signal Hill Elementary School in Pemberton. Lorette is going to fill the vacancy left by Kent at Brackendale Elementary.

Lorette is being replaced by MacKenzie, a former School District 48 teacher who left Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵin 1999.

District Superintendent Dr. Rick Erickson said he is confident the new principals coming into the school district will provide the kind of leadership that will further enhance the district's growing reputation as one of the leading school districts in the province.

Erickson also expressed deep appreciation for the two retiring principals. Larcombe put in 37 years of service with 29 of those as principal at various schools in the district. Peter Hotston is leaving Howe Sound Secondary School after 31 years of service with the district.

Kent, Lorette and MacKenzie start at their new jobs on Aug. 1.
