Perry takes the Plunge

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ

Green party candidate Dennis Perry rode the Powerhouse Plunge Wednesday (April 27) with Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵOff Road Cycling Association's ("SORCA") Neil Plum and Brad Walkie.

As reported in last week's Chief, SORCA members are concerned the privately-owned land may be logged in the future, introducing a road that would cross the challenging downhill technical trail that is a feature of the Test of Metal mountain bike race at two or three points.

"To effectively represent Squamish, you need to be on the ground locally to understand issues first hand. That's why I needed to see the Powerhouse Plunge," said Perry.

"I believe all the values of a community need to be addressed before appropriate decisions can be made. The value of cut fibre is important to the community; at the same time, the value of the SORCA's sponsored mountain bike races need to be considered. Other recreational and environmental values also need to be weighed."

Said Perry of his ride: "I admit I had to walk down a lot of it."
