Gas leak clears buildings in Estates

A gas leak at a restaurant in the Garibaldi Estates forced the evacuation of several local businesses and residences on Saturday (May 20), according to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵFire Rescue.

Fire Rescue crews cordoned off the area, which included several businesses and apartments, and found the gas leak at Pepe & Gringos restaurant. The buildings were ventilated and Terasen gas crews shut off gas to the building.

Bob Fulton of Fire Rescue said the leak appears to have been caused by a failed pilot light on a gas appliance.
