Nexen Beach opens today

Nexen Beach is now open for the summer season. The DOS and Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵOceanfront Development Corporation announced the beach, located at the tip of the Oceanfront Property, will be accessible via a new gravel access road as of today.

Be advised the gates permitting access to the beach will be locked each evening at 10:00 p.m. and reopen at 6:00 a.m. No overnight camping or beach fires will be permitted on the beach and no lifeguard will be on duty.

McBride wheels in funds

Through her efforts to raise money for the Wheels in Motion 10k fundraising event last month, Kristen McBride brought in $3,456.12.

She participated in the event at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver with a group of her friends.She is still accepting donations through an online fundraising drive at www.rickhansen.com, as well as new donations of cash and cheques in person.

Highway 99 update

Highway construction continues at several locations between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler. Delays of 5-30 minutes at each location. Expect 30 minute delays per trip between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish.
