Grandmother Joy McLennan has a new joy in her life - New Year's baby Daniel McLennan.
Her daughter Marisa McLennan gave birth to Daniel McLennan, the first baby delivered at 樱桃视频General Hospital on Jan. 1 at 11:08 a.m. He weighed nine pounds and three ounces.
"He had a very fast delivery," said Joy.
"He's very good, he's hardly cried at all."
His mother Marisa was doing well after the delivery.
"She's fine. She's thrilled too, she's just exhausted," Joy said.
Marisa wasn't the only person who was happy to have a new baby. So was Daniel's older brother David, who is two and a half.
"He was kissing his face and holding his hand," Joy said.
David asked his grandmother where baby Daniel was going to sleep, and when he found out he would be sharing his room, he reacted with class.
"He said Nana would have to get bunk beds," Joy said.
Marisa was still resting in the hospital on Jan. 3.
"I'm having a vacation," she said.
She didn't know she was having another boy, but it worked out.
"I had the name picked out for a boy at least," Marisa said.
The family was prepared for either a boy or a girl. It had a doll and a knitted bunny waiting perched in the Christmas tree. David delivered the blue dressed bunny to Daniel on Monday.
Daniel is becoming accustomed to his new world.
"He seems to know he's on the planet," said Joy, noting he seems happy to be here. And he's not the only one.
"He has lots of family members that are going to love him so much," Joy said.
In recognition of the New Year's Baby 2005, the following local merchants have generously donated prizes to the baby and his mother.
