Last days to go Wild At Art

This is the last weekend of Wild At Art 2007.

This is the last weekend of Wild At Art 2007. Are you feeling arty? Are you ready to party?

Along with the main art gallery venue at the shed housing the Royal Hudson Steam Engine at the West Coast Railway Park (open all weekend), there will be events around town to make this weekend a whirlwind of good gigs and the chance to meet old friends and make new ones.

Tonight's gala evening at the Eagle Theatre (Feb. 23) features Ndidi Onukwulu, the BC-born, Toronto-based blues and roots artist, and her talented multi-Juno award winning accompanist Madagascar Slim. Tickets are $20 for adults and $25 for concessions. The show starts at 7 p.m.

As well, the musical feast continues at Gelato Carina on Cleveland with Roots, Bluegrass and Country. Music by Davy's Locker will fill the Grizzly Bar and Grill.

Start early on Saturday with the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRotary's WORLD FAMOUS Beef Barbeque at the Railway Heritage Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. As well, the Farmer's Market will take place downtown and the Music and Dance Mainstage, also downtown, will play music all after noon. Highlights include The Paperboys (2:30 p.m.) and Jay Knutson (4 p.m.).

Kelly Coubrough sings arias and musicals at St. John's Anglican Church at 8 p.m. ( mistakenly listed it at 7 p.m. last week, so please take note!) And Kinnie Starr will max out at the Howe Sound Brew Pub.

If something is good it is worth repeating, so the Rotary barbeque is back on Sunday morning at 11 for those couldn't make it on Saturday. The Main Stage Tent will take on the theme of multiculturalism, with the day dedicated with how the world meets in Squamish. Dancers from the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵNation and the Indo-Canadian Community bring their talents to the star. Later in the day the North Shore Celtic ensemble add their sound to the mix.

Children's entertainer Norm Foote will perform with local children's choirs. The Squamish-raised singer and performer is highlight on page A24. West Coast singers and songwriters round out Gelato Carina's generous involvement with the festival.

The final event of Wild At Art is the Quest University-sponsored Poetry Quest at the Brackendale Art Gallery at 6 p.m. Anyone who possesses a way with words is asked to carry their word flow with them and cut it loose once inside the gallery. There will be prizes and glory for the Bards of Brackendale.

Buses/vans have been generously provided for by Perimeter Transportation Ltd and by Greg Gardner Chev/Olds Dealership. They are due take passengers between the Rail Park and the Women's Centre parking lot downtown every 30 minutes.
