Break out your best cruise wear and limber up those legs because the Caribbean Summer Jam is back for an 11th year. The event is hosted by Vertical Reality and will take place in front of the store at 37855 Second Ave. from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 19).

Despite it's long run, the event is nowhere near getting stale, according to organizer Pat Alexander. "Something new this year is we're bringing in a limbo dancer," said Alexander, who ecourages everyone to try the limbo themselves.

Crowds will also be treated to some old favourites. Phase III will one again be the main show, said Alexander, and DJ Carl of Soundvibes will keep people "hustling, bustling, and moving."

Alexander said he wants people of all ages to come out and enjoy the festivities and to say hello even if he seems a little rushed.

"Being a host you're like a chicken with no head," said Alexander. "Once the show kicks in you're off and running until it ends."

The menu will consist of the same Caribbean flavour visitors have enjoyed in past years, provided by the woman Pat calls "Mom."

Roti, cook-up rice, Jamaican patties, black-eyed peas, dahl pouri, naan bread, vegetarian and chicken curry will be for sale for those longing for a taste of the islands and to keep dancers' dancing.

The dress code is festive and tropical and visitors are asked to bring lawn chairs for resting in between dancing and limbo.

Alexander requests dogs and alcohol be left at home in order to ensure all have a fun time.
