Squamish's newspaper has two veterans at the helm of its editorial department starting next week.

Chief senior reporter John French has been promoted to co-editor, a title he will share with Steven Hill, who comes to The Chief from Whistler This Week visitor magazine, a sister publication of The Chief.

French was born and raised in Squamish, graduating from Howe Sound Secondary School in 1987. He worked as reporter and news director of Mountain FM Radio in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵfrom 1990 to 2002. He joined The Chief as a freelance contributor in 2002 and became a full-time reporter in 2003. He is married with two children.

Hill, originally from Montreal, came to the Sea to Sky corridor in 2000 as senior reporter for the Whistler Question and was named editor of Whistler This Week in 2003. He has lived in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵsince 2002 and is married with one child.

"I'm very pleased to hand over the editorial duties in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵto John and Steven," said Chief publisher Tim Shoults. "Their combined skills and experience will serve the readers of The Chief very well."

Shoults, The Chief's editor since 1998 and editor and publisher since 2001, will remain publisher of The Chief and become group publisher of The Chief and its sister newspaper, the Whistler Question.
