Weather wise, it looks very promising for the 48th annual Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵDays Loggers Sports weekend. If you were unable to attend the free concert at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵPavilion today (July 29) until 6 p.m., the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵIdol contest will be a fun event. Plan on attending and on your favourite idol from 6 to 8 p.m.



The big attraction each year at the Children's Sports at Stan Clarke Park (across from the Pavilion) is the arrival of that famous and fun character, Ronald McDonald. First though will be the decorated bike contest at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, (July 30). then after Ronald's great show, races and contests for all ages gets underway. As an added bonus, there is free hot dogs and drinks for participants.



The Novice and Intermediate Loggers Sports at Al McIntosh Loggers Sports Grounds is free tomorrow (July 30) at 1:30 p.m.



The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵDays Giant Bingo night, Saturday (July 30), is sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵLions Club and this year it will be held in the Sea to Sky Hotel. There are also many prizes and a bingo shuttle for seniors. The bus departs Hilltop House at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and from Eagle Grove Seniors at 5:35 p.m., 6:05 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. Residents at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵManor can catch the bus at 5:40 p.m., 6:10 p.m., and 6:40 p.m. Return trips will begin at the completion of bingo approximately 9:30 p.m. For more information please call Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵTransit at 604-892-3597. Why not have supper while you play bingo? There is an Asian buffet at the Sea to Sky Hotel from 5 to 6 p.m. at a cost of $8.95 and from 6 to 9 p.m. at a cost of $10.95. Doors open at 6 p.m. with bingo beginning at 7 p.m.



The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵDays Elk's Logger's Breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McKenzie Plaza (Home Hardware, Sears shopping Centre) on Sunday (July 31). It's always a delicious breakfast and the price is right too! Early bird price until 8:30 a.m. is $4.50 per person.



The big attractions on Sunday include the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵDays Festival Parade at 11 a.m. and of course the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵDays Word-Class open Loggers Sports Show at 1:30 p.m.



This coming Tuesday, (Aug. 12) at 1 p.m., the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵPublic Library is pleased to welcome children's musical entertainer Chris Hamilton join the staff for some high-energy, interactive, sing-along, get-up-and-dance fun for all ages. Admission is by donation.



Holiday or not, the Women on Wheels will meet this Monday (Aug. 1) at 9:30 a.m. at the Canadian Tire for a local ride. More information is available from Shirley at 604-898-5715.



On Saturday, Aug. 6, the 34th annual Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRound-Up will be held at the Brennan Park recreation Centre beginning at 8 a.m. Please note this is a one-day event and tickets at $25 each will be available at the door.

The Logger's Creek Trail is the next walk planned by the Tantalus Walking Club on Thursday (Aug. 4) and walkers are asked to meet at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre at 10 a.m. For more information call Joyce at 604-898-5594.



Under sunny skies, the annual B.C. Rail Pioneers picnic held at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵEaster Seals Camp on July 21 was a time for renewing friendships and enjoying a delicious luncheon. The annual raffle supports bursary awards and this year's raffle winners were: Bill Baldridge, Prince George, $500; Bertha Murrell, Penticton, $300; Dave Thethi, Squamish, $100; Margaret Karmazenuk, West Vancouver, $100; Harold Wollgar, Prince George, $100.



The Hearts in Motion Walking Club will meet on Friday (Aug. 5) at 9:30 a.m. at 39731 Clarke Road in the North Yard for a walk. For those wishing more information, please call Stephanie at 604-898-1298 or myself at 604-815-0152.



The next Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵSummer Fest sponsored by the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵTown Centre Association will be held at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵPavilion on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appearing for the first time in the Fest will be guitarist and solo artist Perry Beckham and Jeffrey James and the Bootleggers.
