Church plans seniors' complex

St. John the Divine Anglican Church parishioners have voted overwhelmingly in support of researching the construction of a seniors' affordable housing complex on the church's Diamond Road property, according to Seniors Outreach Project Co-ordinator Alan Dudley.

The church successfully applied for seed money from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) under a public-private partnership initiative with provincial governments to develop affordable housing throughout BC and Yukon.

The successful application grants the church $20,000 to fund research activities for an independent living seniors' complex on the church's property, which will take up to a year to complete.

Hwy. 99 update

The Sunset Beach-to-Lions Bay southern worksite is undergoing highway reconstruction at Ansell Place, 4.3 km north of Horseshoe Bay. Traffic will detour via the Ansell Place interchange off and on ramps until October.

The Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project has recently introduced a corridor information tool on their website. The trip calculator can be accessed at http://linux.lunadesign.org/tripcal/. The trip calculator is designed to help drivers plan their travel during construction.

The driver selects from a map the origin, destination and date of their trip and receives information on suggested departure time, construction delays, estimated total travel time and approximate arrival time.
