Get ready thrifters because F as in Frank in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵis hosting a flea market!

This Saturday, Sept. 28, F as in Frank will be filling up their parking lot with over 20 local vendors selling pre-loved items, and a sausage sizzle to thank the community for their support over the summer season.

Think of it like a community garage sale–with a sprinkling of Frank’s vintage spice.

“We wanted to give back and host an event, because we had people coming through asking if we do donations, just because they have stuff they wanted to get rid of, and so we were like, well, you know what, we might not take it, but let's make an event for you where you guys can get some money back as well,” store manager Meghan Kyriacou said.

“We put it out, not really knowing how many people would respond but we’ve got over 20 people coming to sell their things. We're kind of setting it up as a 10 by 10 booth, so the entire parking lot I think is going to be really full.

“We just wanted to give the community something that's not outdoor related, like mountain biking or climbing. I love doing all that, but it's just something different that a lot of people can [get involved with].”

Warehouse supervisor and online customer service assistant Marissa O’Sullivan said they hope the event can also act as a reminder for people to shop with purpose–a message commonly shared in the F as in Frank store.

“We're trying to show people that [clothing] is actually worth something, and you have to think about it before you buy it,” O’Sullivan said.

“Because otherwise you're going to have a whole bunch of clothes and over half of them will end up in landfill or recycling facilities.”

Kyriacou said 90% of the vendors on the day are Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵlocals with 10% hailing from Vancouver.

The event will also have a free sausage sizzle from 12 until 2 p.m. catering to both vegetarians and meat eaters.

“We've had a really good response from the community and we're stoked about that. We're just excited to see how it goes and then hopefully do more of these in the future,” Kyriacou said.

The event is free to attend and will be held in the parking lot at 39279 Queens Way, Squamish.
