Those interested in learning more about the Cheakamus spill on Aug. 4 are invited to attend a public meeting at the North Vancouver Outdoor School on Wednesday (Sept. 14).

The goal of the open house is to update the status of the river and plans for remediation of the waterway.The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the outdoor school's main auditorium.

Hwy. 99 update

Closures of Highway 99 are expected to begin Sept. 26. Specific construction closure details will be announced soon.

In the meantime, drivers should expect delays of up to five minutes at any time in the work zones between Whistler and Horseshoe Bay.

Overnight work continues between Horseshoe Bay and Lions Bay with delays of up to half an hour between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday night to Thursday morning.

Between Lions Bay and Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵexpect delays of up to 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Monday. The crews finish at noon on Fridays.

Expect delays of up to 15 minutes north of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵweekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. with quitting time moved to noon on Friday.
