This little guy is indeed a miracle baby (he will be three on May 1) and has been through many surgeries in his young life. There is a fundraiser bottle drive tomorrow (April 21) from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help support the family. Organizing the bottle drive is Mara Williams and if you wish more information, please call her at 604-898-2705. The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵBottle Depot has an account opened in Emilio's name and you can make your donations there anytime.



The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵLions club will have the grills in readiness for the Community Garage Sale and Pancake Breakfast tomorrow (April 22) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location is the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵInternational Hostel, Inn on the Water off Highway 99. You will definitely be pleasantly "fed up" after tucking into their fab breakfast! The Club promises to have lots of good stuff at the garage sale. Table rentals are available by calling 604-892-9240.



Tomorrow (April 22) is the day the North Shore and Coquitlam Celtic Ensemble perform at the Brackendale Art Gallery at 7:30 p.m. That is the place where our very own young fiddle player and member of the Celtic Ensemble, Jocelyn Pettit has performed on numerous occasions including the monthly GrassRoots Jam. Tickets at $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 years are available at Billie's Bouquet, Mostly Books and at the BAG. The group will also perform during the afternoon at Gelato Carina and at the Adventure Centre. As well as going to a Music Festival in Scotland in August, the Ensemble will perform for Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa.



Tonight (April 21) the Maple Syrup Festival will be in progress at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The sponsors, L'Ecole les Aiglons, welcomes everyone to try maple syrup on the snow, dancing, face painting and more.



Residents are invited to the Day of Mourning ceremony on Sunday, April 30 at 10:45 a.m. at the workers Memorial Monument in Pavilion Park on Cleveland Avenue. This annual memorial service is sponsored by the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵand District Labour Committee. If you wish more information please call 604-815-0811.



The Baha'is of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵinvite you to join them in a Candlelight Prayer Gathering tomorrow evening (April 22) at 7:30 p.m. at the Tantalus Seniors' Centre at 1471 Pemberton Avenue. As well as lighting candles for the safety of the Baha'is in Iran who continue to be persecuted for their beliefs, the program will include prayers, music and a short talk by Mina Dickinson, whose brother and family live in Iran. The first ride of the season for the Women on Wheels (WOW) will take place on Monday (April 24) at 10 a.m. and the meeting place is Canadian Tire. New members, those 50 plus are welcome to join WOW. After the ride, the gals always stop for a coffee so make sure you have change in your pocket! Anyone wishing more info is asked to call Shirley at 604-898-5715.



Having a mammogram could save your life. The Screening Mammography mobile unit is coming to the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵGeneral Hospital from May 17 to June 1. There are several appointments still available and you are asked to phone 1-800-663-9203. Outside of the age group 40 to 70 years, women are accepted with a doctor's referral.



A quilt show featuring the talents of The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵValley Quilters Guild will be held in the conference room at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵPublic Library on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are approximately 40 members in the guild but there is always room for newcomers. In anticipation of their annual garage sale and raffle on May 6, the Women's Auxiliary to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵGeneral Hospital will be selling tickets on their raffle at Save-On-Foods on April 21, 22 and 23 and at Extra Foods on April 29 and 30.



Members (and new members) of the Hearts in Motion Walking Club are asked to meet at the Adventure Centre on Friday, April 28 at 9:30 a.m. for a walk to the Brennan Park Recreation Centre. The walks are generally 30-40 minutes and you can walk at your pace. For more information, call me at 604-815-0152.



Hats of every era from the early 1900s to the 1970s will be on parade when the Hats and Fashion parade is held at St. John's Anglican Church on Friday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Ivan Sayers, the former curator of history at the Vancouver Museum will present this special evening. Along with the hats of course, the models will be dressed to match the era of the hats. Tickets at $12 each are available at Mostly Books and Billie's Bouquet.



Star Search is sponsored each year by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association and the date for this year has been set for June 9 in the Eagle Eye Theatre. Students, teachers, coaches, instructors etc. are advised that the deadline for entries is Friday, May 5. The fourth annual Brackendale Blue Grass Festival will be held at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Saturday, May 6.



The date for the annual Garden Tour sponsored by the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵGardeners will be Sunday, June 25. There is a call out for residents to enter their gardens be they large or small and anyone with a vegetable garden is also urged to consider being part of the tour. The deadline for entries is May 11 and a call to Eleanor at 604-898-5416 or Beth at 604-898-3156 would be appreciated.



The Howe Sound Curling Club is holding a fundraiser garage sale on Saturday, May 6. It also includes a golf tournament starting at 1 p.m. Sign up at the Pro Shop.



The annual Sea to Sky Singers spring concert will feature Songs of the Sea and will be performed at the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵBaptist Church on Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at $10 adults, $7 students and seniors are available at Billie's Bouquet, Mostly Books, Highland Video and at the door.
