Canada's largest carnival supplier will roll into town early next week to cut the sky with silhouettes of a Ferris wheel and roller coasters.

Games and concession stands will join the dozens of rides provided by West Coast Amusement for the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵElks Spring Fair 2005 at the Oceanfront Development lands at the foot of downtown Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵstarting Thursday (April 7) until Sunday (April 10).

"It's going to be the largest event in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵhistory," said Elks Club #119 Exalted Ruler Peter Harris.

It's the first year the fair is situated on the property on Galbraith Avenue, which was formerly known as the Nexen lands. Harris says the Elks hope the annual fair can stay at the location for as long as possible.

"The land is great," he said. "Acres and acres for death-defying adult rides and the fun kiddie rides too."

Oceanfront Development CEO Mike Chin said when Harris came to him with the proposal he thought it was a good way to showcase the property.

"I think it's great to get people down here and see the lands and what it can be in the future."

Chin intends to offer the use of the lands to the Elks until a developer comes along. He doesn't anticipate anyone developing the property in the next few years, but you never know, he said."A developer can come along and say 'Oh we need that yesterday.' I really don't know yet."

Fair grounds open to the public from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday (April 7) and Friday (April 8), 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday (April 9) and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (April 10). Admission to the grounds is free.
