Wild at Art offers funds for artistic pieces

Wild at Art organizers are asking for artist submissions that could lead to recognition and cash.

Wild at Art organizers are asking for artist submissions that could lead to recognition and cash. Visual arts co-ordinator Judy McQuinn announced this week that the festival is introducing a new component to the event that marries the culinary and visual arts.

The gold sponsorship level for Wild at Art is offering the opportunity for sponsors to finance three different art pieces for a draw to be held at three different restaurants during this year's culinary events.

During the festival, which runs from March 14 to 23, three restaurants will host cooking demos and wine tastings by top chefs. Organizers will compliment the taste sensations with live jazz music and the submitted visual art pieces. The participating sponsor for each event will choose the art piece, which will be promoted, along with the artist, on the Wild at Art website and in press releases. The artist also receives a $350 honourarium.

To be eligible, artists must have completed an application for the Wild at Art Festival Gallery 2008, due today (Friday, Feb. 1).Please send applications, including a photo, the medium, size and value of the submitted art piece, to [email protected]. The deadline to participate in the culinary art show is Feb. 15. Only one application per person will be accepted. For more information go to www.wildatart.ca.
