A song, a dance, and an extraordinary display of local talent is sure to entertain at this year's Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵStar Search next Friday (June 1) at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre.

This year marks the 15th year of the event, which was originally created for winners to feed into the PNE Star Search Program. "In the last several years, the PNE has changed their format and they now have kids submit a video of themselvesbut the program was so popular in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵthat we decided to keep doing it anyway," said Star Search organizer Christine Miles of the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association.

Fifteen youth will perform in this year's Star Search, including performers as young as six. Though in previous years competitors had to be in their teens, last year organizers decided to create another category to let younger participants have a moment the spotlight.

This year's show is hosted by Warren Daske, a young performer who has already made his mark as a prolific theatre actor.

Contestants have a chance to win cash prizes, as well as the respect and support of their peers.

The contest will be judged by locals Jon Reese from Mountain FM, Tamsin Miller, and Louisa Ourom.

Tickets for the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵStar Search are available at the Adventure Centre, Billie's Bouquet, and Mostly Books.
