Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵArts Council gets financial boost from the provincial government

The money will go to community arts festivals and co-op placements.

The provincial government money for the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵArts Council will go to arts festivals and a co-op placement.

The province is giving the thousands of dollars in grants to help with special events and co-op placements.

In its latest funding announcement on April 9, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Sport said that between January and March, it gave $5,000 to help the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵArts Council with community arts festivals.

It also gave roughly $18,000 to the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵorganization for co-op placements

"We know how much people look forward to the amazing cultural celebrations and music festivals that normally take place during the upcoming peak season. We're so grateful many festival organizers have been able to pivot and use their ingenuity to adjust during the pandemic," said Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Minister Melanie Mark, in a news release.

"While festivals and cultural celebrations will be shared through different platforms this summer, we're committed to investing in these events because they're important for our mental health and sense of community pride."

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵisn’t alone. The province said that 70 community arts festivals are getting support to hold safe, entertaining activities this year.

The is providing a total of $1.19 million.
