Big budget film loses battle

I was quick to blame the grocery store for my opinion of this film. For it is only during my paying for groceries that I am exposed to an overdose of celebrity gossip.

I was quick to blame the grocery store for my opinion of this film. For it is only during my paying for groceries that I am exposed to an overdose of celebrity gossip. That being the case, I am left unable to see Tom Cruise as anything but a lunatic and a Scientologist. I suppose it doesn't help that he can't actually act except for his one role as Tom Cruise.

However, in this particular film Tom is supposed to convince us that he's a one-armed, one-eyed German officer trying to kill Hitler.

As you may guess by my tone, Tom does not 'bring this film to life'. I suppose he does bring millions of views for some unknown reason - ah yes, his looks.

Oh well, let's get on with the review. This film is about an attempted assassination on Hitler by Germans. Not a half-bad plot and the costumes are great, but there are hurdles. For one, everyone speaks English yet with many different accents.

I think it's safe to assume that 'most' people know Hitler wasn't assassinated, so there is no element of surprise. Unless of course you count the surprise that while this film had the opportunity to be remembered as the worst of all time, it instead had decent supporting actors and costumes so will probably just not be remembered at all. That said, if you have a 'thing' for Tom then go nuts. Otherwise give your head a shake and go see Gran Torino.
