Sexual assault

A man was arrested for sexual assault on Saturday, April 4, according to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP. Police say the man groped a female in the 38000 block of Cleveland Avenue.ÌýBased on the description provided by the victim, police were able to identify the man and he was arrested.ÌýCharges are being recommended.Ìý

Hikers rescued from ChiefÌý

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵSearch and Rescue rescued three hikers off of the Stawamus Chief about 4:15 p.m. on Friday, April 3, Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP said. A hiker on the Chief called police when she and two friends became lost on a trail and were not prepared for the weather, which was deteriorating.Ìý

The missing hikers were located by Search and Rescue flying over the area, police said.ÌýThe hikers were escorted off the mountain shortly after 8 p.m, police said. The three were uninjured but cold and taken to the hospital for examination.

Hotel B & E

A man was arrested for break and enter at a room at a downtown hotel on Thursday, April 2. The door had been kicked in to gain entry, and a bicycle and other personal belongings were stolen.ÌýCharges are being recommended.

Business B & E

Tools and three rolls of copper wire were stolen from a business in the 38100 block of Cleveland Avenue overnight April 1. When police arrived, no damage was found but the building, which was being renovated, was unlocked.ÌýThere was no sign of a break-in.

Vandals at schoolÌý

A security guard witnessed four youths vandalizing Brackendale Elementary School on Government Road on Thursday, April 2, according to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP. The youths had thrown a bottle at a window at the back of the school, according to the report.ÌýThe suspects fled when they saw the security guard, police said.Ìý

Bicycle stolenÌý

Thieves stole a Specialized mountain bike that was locked to a tree with a cable lock in the 40100 block ofÌýWillow Crescent on Tuesday, March 31, according to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵRCMP. Police say the lock had been cut.

ÌýJones sentenced to jail

Traith Jones, 34, of Squamish, was sentenced to jail on AprilÌý2 atÌýNorth Vancouver Provincial Court.ÌýThe conviction relates to 49 criminalÌýcharges from six different police files between December 2013 and September 2014, all of which occurred in Squamish, according to RCMP. Jones was sentenced to three concurrent 340-day terms.

Jones was found guilty of theft, possession of stolen property, drug possession and four counts of unauthorized use of a computer. He was also ordered to pay $700 in victim surcharges.
